And just like that, 2018 is gone! Welcome 2019!

It’s pretty crazy to recognize that an entire year zoomed by and I never sat down to blog in 2018, not once!  What’s even more crazy, is to finally sit down, even though we are halfway through January, to sum up the year and see just how incredibly full my schedule was and how very grateful I am for that.

Rising Simplicity had such an amazing 2018 and if for no other reason, then for me to document it for future reference, I was determine to take the time and  simply capture some of what the year looked like!  So, here we go…!

I dove into the world of weddings and became a preferred vendor with Real Weddings Magazine.   This has been so fun to have my work featured in wedding photo shoots and also advertise in the wedding industry, through this incredible magazine and its partner magazine, Style.  This was the add in December for Style magazine, featuring my #1 selling item, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, and a few pictures of the wedding photo shoot that Ames Haus (the Designer for this wedding shoot) invited me to participate in.

Speaking of Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, they remained the most popular item throughout the year at various events, and grabbed the attention of several satisfied customers, which resulted in making over 10,000, hand made, hand dipped little morsels of goodness!  Now that’s crazy!  I am now affectionately known as the “Carmel Lady” to many people in search of  how to get their hands on these irresistible, melt in your mouth treats.  I had several large quantity orders for Corporate and Employee gifts as well as Dessert Buffets and Celebrations of all kinds that required quality Chocolate!  LOL!

The opportunity arose for me to feature my Caramels in the most adorable little boutique and event center in downtown Roseville called Time & Space.  This has provided a place for customers to stop in and conveniently purchase all the caramels they want, or at least as many as I have in stock at the store.  What a blessing this has been for sure!!!

Throughout the year I participated in several Fundraisers, Events and Charities such as Blue Heart Foundation (Prevent Sex Traffic), American Heart Association, Breast Cancer Awareness Society, Soroptimist Local Chapter, Veterans Stand Down, Law Enforcement Fundraisers, and a few other real great causes.  It is super rewarding and satisfying to give back to my community and support such worthwhile organizations.

I also had multiple opportunities to hold Meal Planning Workshops at Fit For Living Gym in Lincoln, Ca as well as conduct a couple of Cooking Demos at Marisolio Tasting Bar in Murphys.  I especially enjoyed collaborating with my sons Tyler and Garrett, with Laughing Mother Farms and incorporating their delicious, organic produce, grown local in Murphys into the demonstrated recipes.

I made Decorated Sugar Cookies for events ranging from various holidays, birthdays and showers to retirement parties, themed events and New Years Celebrations.  Cookies bagged, Cookies boxed, Cookies on trays, Cookies everywhere!  It was a cookie kind of year right up to Dec. 31st!  These racks were filled multiple times throughout the year with a variety of cookies and this represents many, many hours of cookie decorating.  I also call it Cookie Therapy!  LOL!

I met so many amazing people this past year, I made many networking connections and I participated in countless business opportunities and collaborations.  I feel like I grew as a business owner and made some changes for better efficiencies, time management and organizational systems and of course, work-life-balance!

What a wonderful year it has been for Rising Simplicity!  As I take the time to reflect on all that this year has entailed, I am smiling at what a true blessing it has been to continue doing what I LOVE to do.  It is a gift to utilize what God has gifted me with and has allowed me a creative outlet as well as a means to share it with others.  Pure delight!

I’m so excited about 2019 and already have several opportunities on my work schedule.  I’m hoping an entire year doesn’t pass by before I find myself entering a blog post, but if it does, I’m confident its because I was having fun baking cookies and making Dark Chocolate Caramels.

Thanks for following along and Happy New Year!
