BAKING: Here is a little something about me! I  LOVE to bake, and I  have spent an entire lifetime enjoying all things baked.  As a young girl, I marveled at beautifully displayed cakes and pies and other special occasion treats.  My desire to emulate such delicious creations has continued throughout my adult life, and on most days you’ll find one of my “Happy Places” is in the kitchen, being creative with food.  Recipe testing is an ongoing task for me as I learn to swap out ingredients and create “healthier” bakery delicacies.  I believe in the motto, “everything in moderation” and have no trouble enjoying a little sweet treat now and then, especially Dark Chocolate!

MEAL PLANNING: I also really enjoy fresh foods, wholesome and naturally delicious.  I strive to eat and cook as healthy as possible and both my husband and I enjoy the simplicity of meal prepping on the weekends with no cooking mid-week. I enjoy passing along tips and shortcuts that I have discovered over the years that have made mundane cooking tasks seem enjoyable, and certainly doable for any level cook. EDUCATION: I was fortunate to graduate from a well known Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu, but don’t let that intimidate you. I really am not all that fancy!  Culinary School was always on my bucket list, so I made it happen.
It really was fascinating and the opportunity it created  for me to extern as a Pastry Chef in  Istanbul, Turkey was an experience of a lifetime. My dear friend Maria, is a successful businesswoman  in a well established Cheesecake business and the owner and operator of several bakeshops in Istanbul, Turkey. If you are ever visiting Turkey, this should be on your list of places to go.   http://www.mariascheesecakes.net/index.php/en/    I was immersed in a thriving bakery operation that gave me the confidence and inspiration to return to the U.S. and do what I love to do in the comfort of my own kitchen (and country).

FAMILY: My husband and I have a combined number of  12 adult kids (this includes their spouses), 8 Grandchildren and a whole lot more extended family.  We love our family and although some do not live nearby, we enjoy our gatherings when we can, around a bounty of delicious food. We enjoy preparing food together, sharing recipes and culinary creativities. Even the youngest family members enjoy being kitchen helpers.

    

So, that is a little bit about me!  I am so grateful to God for this season of life that I am in, embracing one day at a time as a gift. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful family, really awesome friends and an opportunity to do what I love to do.  I’m Rising to the Simplicity of life and I hope you’ll join me!
